Rule 49-O
The enlightened Indian who woke up after the Mumbai disaster has left me more confused than relieved. I agree as an individual I may not be a expert on approving or not but as a responsible citizen I use my right to my voice.
On this forum id like to raise my objection to the hoard of little informed emails all of us are suddenly flooded with demanding implementation of the act of 1969 demanding the right to vote for ‘none of the above’ well the Election commission does have such a provision where you can display your displeasure on the candidates in the foray by going through the entire process of marking your presence and then inform the polling officer that you will not cast your vote for anybody. Well so far so good but what next do we patiently wait for the institution of public opinion to take its slow course or demand for more accountability from the politicians?
What the E.C needs to be really looking into the percentage of votes cast to the winning candidate as it is a recorded fact most of our elected leaders do not enjoy popular support i,e they are not in power because they gathered more than 50% of the votes but only coz they got more than the last candidate. Anybody taking note?

Why not
At the stroke of Midnight 1947 when the world slept free India awoke to sign its tryst with destiny, to fulfill its promise, A promise of freedom of self, faith and a promise of equality in all spheres. I am lucky to have been born in a India with such wonderful aspirations. Yes I was born in independent India but do I live in a free India? Are we playing mute spectators while the politicians hold the future of the nation to ransom. This question hasn’t stopped bothering me ever since I understood the Abc’s of political science. The dreamers of a free India would be turning in their graves at the plight of today’s politics and antics of political leaders. At times it seems that the politicians are raking up the communal cause to hide their in efficiency. Take this political aspirant for instance since he has nothing fresh or innovative to offer to the voter he is trying to awaken the maratha manoos. I wonder if he seldom stops to think where would be the sprit of Mumbai if Amitabh Bachans Or the Mukesh Ambanis or the Tatas decide to make their homes elsewhere. The most important point he misses is that when Mumbai was fighting back the terrorists we were all Indians Shoulder to Shoulder no just the Maratha Manoos Which is why I guess he was conspicuous with his absence. What with a Cabinet minister entrusted with the honourable task of reaching education to the grassroots does his job by opening up the Pandora’s box of reservations just to save his eviction from the cabinet.
What India needs today are leaders who rise above the cliché of regional issues and take up causes of environmental protection, Global positioning of India, uplifting the agriculture sector and the likes. This is an appeal to all politicians to rise above their trivial sectorisation and take India to the Heights the world is expecting us to soar.

We the mighty
Amazingly resilient is what we are becoming. The recent attack on mumbai has left every Indian feeling so fragile and exposed that there suddenly such an overwhelming feeling of repulsiveness at the govt that we dont know where to begin. one wonders what it would take to get this bunch of non performing politicians to feel sorry. for them it has been one faux pas after the other. with the mess up in handling the rising spate of terrorism the govt has earned titles of spineless, biased , impotent, corrupt and so much more. one wonders what it would it take to awaken us yes us we seem to have become a sadist nation moving from one tragedy to another losing steam mid way every time we pledge to begin a campaign. well I wonder aswe have beeen reflecting this momentary reaction attitude of ours can we really blame the politicians for beleiving we can be mis led? so iI implore every Indian to rise to the call of the hour and make a start by raising your voice unrelentingly and tirelesly till we are able to bring about a change. For beginers I would like to raise a call for an option of being offered a "none of the above" option on the voters list so i can officially record my displeasure of all politicians and not be forced abstain.
